The South African Legion at the Karkloof 100 Miler

The Karkloof100 is a 100 Mile Endurance Foot Race set to take place between the 22nd and 24th of September 2017 in the Karkloof area of KZN. One of only three 100 mile trail races in South Africa, it will be the first to take place in KwaZulu-Natal. The Karkloof, renowned for its indigenous forests, wetlands and grasslands is an ideal setting for the extreme challenge that aims to push the boundaries of Trail Running in South Africa by attracting top class, local and international field to compete over what is considered the ultimate distance in trail running.

The  Karkloof100’s mission is to deliver a world class 100 mile foot race in one of South Africa’s most beautiful landscapes.

The 100 Miler is considered the ultimate challenge in trail running around the world. To achieve a finish in this distance is a feat that only a few trail runners can claim.

In South Africa, the 100 mile distance is relatively new and the Karkloof100 aims to produce a world class event that will cement itself as one of the ultimate endurance challenges in the country.

The South African Legion of Military Veterans, encourages all athletes taking part in the race and the spectators to Wear a POPPY temporary tattoo and show that they Remember those that have sacrificed in service.

​

The SA Legion would like to honour the endurance and tenacity of the athletes, which is similar to the grit that is displayed by soldiers during various battles over the years.
